Final Words & Conclusion

The Verdict

This conclusion is of course not going to be any different from the previous GTX 295 single-PCB we tested. We really like what the GTX 295 brings to the table. Now the entire design change didn't bring anything new or better to the end-user whatsoever. So from that point of view, this merely was a revision change of the card. But darn it, each time we test a GeForce GTX 295 we really enjoy playing games with that card. the sheer amount of brute horsepower it has is unprecedented.

Inno3D tops it off a little better as this Platinum Edition brings some more TLC (tender love and care) to the table as they throw in a nice software bundle, and especially the inclusion of Far Cry 2 is of course really lovely. It's a great bundle with a great product, as simple as that.

There's one thing though, I still can't help thinking that NVIDIA might have missed a bit of an opportunity here. Why not clock the card a little higher? Or configure it with two partitions of 1024MB, 1GB per GPU? Positioned slightly differently, the product might seem even a little more interesting and appealing to the end-user, whereas now it's just more of the same. Not that the same is bad, no Sir, to the contrary... this is a totally kickass product. But we were able to overclock the product to 700 MHz in a jiffy. The memory runs at 1250x2 just fine as well, so really this product is a little powerhouse with a lot of bang, but seems to be clocked rather conservatively as required by NVIDIA. Ah well, just grab Rivatuner and overclock it yourself ;)

So though the product of course is 100% reference, Inno3D tops it off with a nice bundle. Next to already offering a ridiculous amount of raw gaming performance, you can overclock it pretty darn good as well. Pretty soon you'll be able to find this product for roughly 400~450 EUR in e-tail. It surely is a lot of money but we feel it is a fair price for what you are purchasing.

So there you have it you guys, the conclusion is not a bit different compared to the initial dual-PCB version release. This single-PCB release might be different... yet it's not. It is however an incredible lot of fun to play your games with it as it eats any title to date alive and as such it is a Guru3D top pick.
